Trip to Washington, D.C.

7 other international students (from Spain, England, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Brazil, Malaysia and Japan) and I went to a weekend trip to Washington, D.C. After we got our cars on Friday in the morning, we started our pretty long journey which took us about 8 hours including the breaks. We arrived pretty late at the evening and so we only went out for dinner to a Chinese restaurant, then really short to the White House and then we went to bed.

On Saturday after we had a nice little breakfast at a coffee shop near our hotel, we went to the white house, the national archives and to the capitol. There was a huge snow storm going on and it was freezing, so we decided to stay inside as long as possible. After we went back to our hotel and we warmed up we had a really nice dinner at a Spanish restaurant. We had paella, potato tortillas and other typical Spanish food.

On Sunday, the weather was a lot better - it was sunny the whole day. Therefore we went to the top of Washington Monument and enjoyed the nice view which reached about 20 miles in all directions. We could see the White House, Capitol, Lincoln Memorial and many more attractions from about 168 meters above the ground. Afterwards we went to the World War II Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial. After that we had lunch in an Austrian/German restaurant, which was one of my favorite things in Washington :). I had a delicious Cordon Bleu with great potatoes. After a short shop in Wisconsin Avenue, a shopping street, we went back to Huntington, where we arrived at about 2am in the morning of Monday.
